Touch
The skin is the body's largest sense organ. It exhibits our sense of touch. Nerves in the skin detect contact with materials and some forms of energy*.

Nerves are not scattered evenly over your skin. Some parts of your body are more sensitive than others. These parts have more nerves, closer together.

Our sense of touch is very important to our safety. We detect hot, cold, and pain which alert us to move away from things that could damage our body. Without a sense of touch, we might not notice the danger. The result could be permanent injury.
